| Applying PowerPoint presentations
in your video conference: You can make any presentation or conference of yours more interesting with the help of a PowerPoint presentation, and video conference. Video conferencing proves to be more effective with introductory slides. If nothing else, these slides assure the participants that they have come to the right venue and you can also add a welcome message on the first slide. Moreover, since these slides cycle automatically, wherein you will be able to educate and update the audience as they join your conference. |

| In addition to giving
you extra time, these slides can serve as commercials for any upcoming events,
services and products there might be. The slides provide the necessary hints
and previews of materials that are yet to be released. In fact, the audience
learns about interaction between technology and the presenters.
When in video conferencing, it is important that you log on early as the presentation, and if your are disturbed in the middle of the presentation by any phone call or any person, make sure that you hit the mute button. In video conferencing, you find two means of showing computer based information. It is either through the PC screen acting as a video source, and the other way is by sharing real PC data. When using the PC screen as a video source for the PowerPoint presentation, the person on the other side sees the presentation on the PC screen and not you. This is the method employed by most systems; however, some systems need a box called the scan converter to convert the PC image into a video image. Sometimes, the image of a PC is treated differently from an image of a person and in the process gives a better quality image as images of people use a high refresh rate to facilitate fluid movement. However, the images produced on a PC are still images where lower refresh rates are used for a better quality image. With this option, you are sure that the receiver will receive the image, as long as you send it. The other systems divide the bandwidth wherein the far end is provided with both a PC image and video image of you. This system is possible in computers having a bandwidth above 256 kbps and with systems having capacity at each end. The other systems provide the ability of sending the PC image as a ‘still’ or ‘snapshot’ to maintain a live video image of yourself and the PC image as a graphic. The image here is usually with a higher resolution than the resolution of the video picture. In video conferencing, when you share PC data, it is the PC that is connected to the system that sends the data and not the image to the receiving system. With this, the quality of the image at the far end is similar to the image at the near end. With this option, changes are made to the PC applications from both sides. |
