Tips on choosing the right PowerPoint projector:

The most important tool you need for your PowerPoint presentation is the right projector. When buying a projector, there are many points that have to be taken into consideration so that you end up with the right projector for your PowerPoint presentation. First of all, check the luminosity of the projector.

The luminosity is the amount of light the projector projects on the screen and is measured using the international unit, lumens.
The higher the luminosity, the more visible is the projected image and the farther is the screen from the projector, the more lumens needed for a clear image.

If you make more PowerPoint presentations while traveling, it is better to choose a lightweight projector weighing between 6 and 10 pounds. The ultra portables are even smaller and weigh between 2 and 6 pounds. However, when traveling, remember to take a good and sturdy case that keeps the projector safe. Choose projectors having connectors that are compatible with your laptop. So check the VGA, S-Video and other pins of the interface cables.

Projectors are found using two different technologies; LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and DLP (Digital Light Processing). Recently, the LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon), a new projector technology has emerged as an alternative to the older versions. Though LCD is the oldest and most used technology, DLP has made great strides as its competition. LCOS is a new technology and is considered to be a hybrid between the two technologies.

Make sure the projector has a good warranty. The best warranty is the repair or replace warranty where the companies send technicians to fix the projector if it is not working. If it can’t be fixed, the projector is replaced by a new one by the manufacturer. In the return to base warranty, the projector is returned to the manufacturer if it is not working. Repair takes 2 to 3 weeks or longer, depending on availability of spares.

Swap out warranty is a rare but good warranty where the technician determines the problem over the phone and then you send it to the manufacturer for repairs. They send over a loaner projector the next day for you to use till your projector gets repaired. This loaner projector is returned when you receive your repaired projector. The dead on arrival warranty provides protection to you if you find that the projector does not work on its first usage. With this, you get a new projector. The lamps of projectors usually come with a warranty of 30 days to 6 months. However, if you use the projector frequently, you may have to buy a projector having a good lamp warranty.

Wireless projectors make your workspace tidier, has no signal loss associated with cables and is less confusing. You can use them to switch between numerous PC servers easily, without any fear of tripping over wires. You also have to take the room you give your presentation into consideration when choosing the projector. Larger rooms need higher lumen projectors so that the screen receive enough brightness. And if you intend to have the audience taking notes, you have to take into consideration the lighting of the room too.
