Tips for choosing fonts and text size for your PowerPoint presentation:

A PowerPoint presentation is a great tool to help you in any of your presentations. However, it is only if you use the right font and text size can you expect the best results from the presentation. The formatting of the text in the PowerPoint presentation is done in two ways; either by using the font dialog box or by individual text formatting using the formatting toolbar.

The font dialog box is better when there are many changes to be made and if font defaults have to be set.
To do this, the text for formatting has to be selected and then when clicking on format, the font has to be clicked on. With this, the font dialog box appears. When changing the font size, you have to select the font style and size that you want from the font list and size box.

The specific boxes for can make additional changes to the font; if you want to underline the font, click on the underline box. If you need a shadow effect, the shadow box has to be clicked on and for an embossed effect, the emboss box has to be clicked. The superscript box helps to raise the text above or lower than the baseline while font size is reduced.

To choose colors for the font, you have to choose it from the palette of the color drop-down list. For additional colors, more colors have to be clicked on. After this, you can view the changes by previewing the font on the slide. If there is a need for default for future text, the default for new objects check box has to be selected. And on acceptance of the changes, okay has to be clicked and the font formatting applied.

The formatting toolbar is used for individual formatting elements like bold, italics and shadows for the respective text. The required text has to be selected, formatted and then clicked on the toolbar button. With a second clicking of these buttons, the action becomes a toggle wherein the formatting is removed. You can again preview the fonts using the font drop-down list.

The replace font dialog box has to be opened to replace fonts. The font to be replaced has to be selected from the replace drop-down list which shows the fonts used in your presentation. The replacement font has to be chosen from the drop down list of PowerPoint where you have to click on the required font. With this, the replacement is done.
Sans serif fonts are better for PowerPoint presentations as they are simpler, and tend to show better on the screen. Choose a font size of 24 points or more as this is easier for the audience to read; especially for the audience seated the farthest from the screen. Use italics sparingly as they are difficult to see. Keeping all these points in mind, the appropriate font and text has to be chosen for the PowerPoint presentation to give a wonderful presentation.
